Swirl marks from washing, buffer trails, haze, light to moderate scratches. This is the step most cars actually need, and for most people it is the only one they need.
It works two ways. On its own it is a one-step correction: removes the defects and finishes glossy in a single pass. After Heavy Cut Compound it is step two, clearing the marks the compound left and restoring depth.

It will not remove a scratch your fingernail catches on. That is through the clear coat, and it needs Heavy Cut Compound or touch-up paint.
