Burnt Exhaust Tips Make a Clean Car Look Dirty

You only see them when you step back
You wash the car. Dry it. Walk around the back to check your work — and there they are. Two dull brown-blue circles that make the whole rear end look neglected.

Why soap can’t touch it
Three things are happening at once.
Heat tint
Every drive cycles the tip through hundreds of degrees. Stainless turns blue-gold, chrome goes hazy. That’s a change in the surface itself, not a film sitting on top of it.
Baked carbon
Exhaust soot bonds under heat. By the time you notice it, it isn’t resting on the metal — it’s part of it.
Oxidation
Moisture, road salt, and brake dust dull the finish from the edges in. Left long enough, cloudy can turn into pitted.
Soap lifts loose dirt. None of these are loose dirt.
What most people reach for first
All of these do something. None of them finish the job.
All-purpose cleaner or degreaser
Good at: fresh soot and road film. It’ll strip the greasy layer fast.
Where it stops: it can’t cut heat tint or oxidation. Looks clean while wet, dries back to hazy.
Steel wool or an abrasive pad
Good at: cheap, fast, satisfying. It genuinely removes material.
Where it stops: coarse abrasive can leave fine scratches and swirls in polished chrome that catch the light from then on.
Acid-based wheel cleaner
Good at: dissolving brake dust quickly with almost no effort.
Where it stops: strong acids can stain or etch polished trim and nearby finishes if they’re left to dwell.
Wax or spray sealant over the top
Good at: adds gloss and a bit of protection, and takes two minutes.
Where it stops: it seals the haze in. Shiny cloudy is still cloudy.
Cut it first. Then seal it.

Before you buy
Will it scratch my chrome?
It’s an ultra-fine compound made for polished metal, not a paint-correction cutting compound. As with any polish, start on a small test area with light pressure before you do the whole tip.
What metals can I use it on?
Chrome, aluminum, stainless steel, brass, and silver — automotive, motorcycle, marine, and household hardware.
Do I need a buffer or a drill attachment?
No. The included foam pad and hand pressure handle tips, trim, and handles. On large, heavily oxidized panels a machine will save you time, but it isn’t required.
How long does the protection last?
The ceramic and carnauba leave a sealed layer. How long it holds depends on heat, weather, and how often the car gets washed — re-apply when the shine starts to go flat.
